Egypt Energy 2023 Opens, Showcasing the Latest in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Solutions

Egypt Energy 2023 co-located with FIREX, the leading energy event in North Africa, opened its doors at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre in Cairo. The event is held under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and Supported by the Ministry of Military Production. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed Mohina, Head Sector of Strategic Planning Authorities and International Cooperation, Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ambassador Hisham Badr, the Assistant Minister for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives, Ministry of Planning and Economy Development, and Ms. Rama Homsi, Manager of Egypt Energy and Firex Exhibitions.

“In 2023, Egypt is on the verge of a remarkable transformation in its energy and fire safety sectors. It is setting the tone for energy transformation across Africa with initiatives to accelerate the energy transition and to reach 50% generated from renewables by 2040. The momentum is building, with the endorsement of not one, not two, but three ministries, underscoring the immense importance of our mission in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030. We are not merely hosting an exhibition; we are igniting progress, contributing to economic growth, and addressing real-world challenges with real-world solutions,” said Ms. Rama Homsi, Manager of Egypt Energy and Firex Exhibitions.

Ambassador Hisham Badr

Ambassador Hisham Badr, at the Leadership Conference highlighted the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects saying; “this is an unprecedented endeavor that offers tangible solutions to the pressing climate change issues we face. The initiative aligns perfectly with Egypt’s energy ambitions. It serves as a catalyst for change and for bridging the financial gap in renewable energy and sustainability projects by directing resources towards innovative and environmentally conscious endeavors; it empowers Egypt to accelerate its transition to clean energy”

Day one of Egypt Energy 2023 focused on three key topics including: clean energy, net zero initiatives, and green hydrogen. Speakers discussed Egypt’s progress on its diversified clean energy strategy, its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, and the challenges and opportunities to meet the global demand in green hydrogen and ammonia. The discussions highlighted Egypt’s commitment to a clean and sustainable energy future.

Dr. Ayman Hamza

During a panel on the Progress on Egypt’s Energy Transition, Dr. Ayman Hamza, the official speaker of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, led a conversation between key players in the industry, which highlighted the government initiatives that are investing in projects that focus on energy efficiency, alternative renewables, and encouraging the private sector to invest in the renewable energy projects.

The three day event has attracted over 11,000 active energy and fire safety professionals in total from more than 90 countries. The event features 200+ exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge energy technologies, solutions in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transmission and distribution, power generation, and smart solutions.
