Egypt’s ICT Minister Launches Invest IT Program to Bolster Tech Startups in Collaboration with ITIDA and Flat6Labs
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and IT, Dr. Amr Talaat, witnessed the launch of the Invest IT program, a joint initiative between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and venture capital firm Flat6Labs. The program aims to boost Egyptian tech startups, particularly at the seed or pre-Series A stages, by offering consultancy, tools, and investor connections to help scale operations and enhance global competitiveness.
The program, run by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), a subsidiary of ITIDA, will support startups across various governorates, encouraging innovation and growth in Egypt’s digital economy. Through two phases, the program will prepare startups for investment with tailored training sessions and workshops, followed by connecting them with local and international investors.
Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, affirmed, “The Egyptian government remains steadfast in its dedication to cultivating a thriving tech startup ecosystem. We are rolling out diverse initiatives to equip entrepreneurs with essential skills, attract global incubators, and facilitate connections between startups and investors. By establishing Digital Egypt innovation hubs nationwide, we empower innovators to transform their ideas into successful ventures. Alongside this, we are streamlining processes and investing in advanced digital infrastructure, positioning Egypt among the top three countries in the Middle East and Africa for tech startup investments.”
ITIDA CEO Engineer Ahmed ElZaher highlighted the importance of collaboration with Flat6Labs, noting, “This program reinforces our commitment to nurturing Egyptian startups and ensuring they can scale globally. Our strategic initiatives are designed to foster growth from idea to expansion in international markets.”
Flat6Labs Founder and Chairman Hany El Sonbaty echoed the sentiment, stating, With the launch of the InvestIT Program, we expand our support for Egyptian entrepreneurs—the innovators we’ve proudly supported since 2011. This program is not just about preparing startups for investment; it’s about equipping them with the tools and connections to scale their impact. Through our collaboration with ITIDA and TIEC, we’re committed to building a strong, vibrant ecosystem where startups can make a real impact on the tech landscape in Egypt.”
The program is set to support 12 startups over 6-8 months. Each startup will receive tailored consultancy services to enhance their investment readiness and assist with setting up data rooms and preparing for investor engagements.
The contract for the program was signed by ITIDA CEO Ahmed ElZaher and Flat6Labs Chairman Hany El Sonbaty, with Flat6Labs Founder Ahmed El-Alfi and several officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, ITIDA, and Flat6Labs attending the ceremony.
Eligible startups must be at the seed funding stage or pre-Series A rounds with a scalable product or service, and have been operating for at least two years.
The launch of this program highlights Egypt’s ongoing commitment to innovation and economic diversification, further positioning the country as a key player in the regional and global tech startup ecosystem.
